Green Grabs Bronze, Washington Secures First Team All-America Award at NCAAs

EUGENE, Ore.  – The University of Oklahoma track and field team concluded the third day of the NCAA Outdoor Championships at Hayward Field late Friday night. Sophomore BJ Green and Freshman Kyren Washington collected First Team All-America honors in their respective events.
 
The men's team totaled 10 points over two days of competition to tie for 32nd in the nation. Three Sooners, including Green and Washington, plus Nikaoli Williams (long jump), finished top-eight, adding to the final team score.
 
Green collected six points after leaping to 16.63m (54'6.75") for third place in the men's triple jump. He concludes his sophomore season with two first team honors, the indoor and outdoor Big 12 titles and the No. 2 spot on OU's indoor and outdoor all-time lists.
 
Washington capped his debut season with the first team award in the men's high jump. He tied his personal best of 2.20m (7'2.50") for sixth place in an elite field.
 
Ranked 10th in the nation, Angel Richmore completed the first day of heptathlon events while representing the Sooners. She clocked 14.07 (+0.4) in the 100-meter hurdles, collecting 968 points in her first event. She followed with a fourth-place finish in the high jump, clearing a season-best 1.78m (5'10") for an additional 953 points to her total. Richmore's jump also ties for the seventh-best mark in Oklahoma outdoor history. In the last field event of day one, she recorded 14.33m (47'0.25") in the shot put for 816 points and fifth overall. She would go on to record 25.28 in the 200-meter dash for 861 points.
 
Richmore wrapped up day one in eighth place with 3,598 points. She will conclude the heptathlon on Saturday with the long jump scheduled for 12:30 p.m. CT, javelin at 1:45 p.m. CT and the 800-meter run at 6:13 p.m. CT.
