WACO, Texas – The University of Oklahoma track and field team wrapped up the first day of the Big 12 Outdoor Championship late Thursday night, held at the Clyde Hart Track and Field Stadium.
Senior
Kassidy Gallagher grabbed a silver medal with a 63.35m (207'10") toss in the women's hammer throw. On the men's side, graduate
Bayley Campbell took bronze with a 65.85m (216'0") mark.
Freshman
Kennedy Clarke also scored for the Sooners in the women's hammer throw, recording 57.35m (188'2") for fifth place. Clarke's and Gallagher's scores combine to propel the women's squad into second with 12 points.
Sophomore
Ally Stephenson represented the Sooners in the women's heptathlon. She recorded 14.22 in the 100-meter hurdles for 947 points to start the event. Stephenson cleared a personal-record 1.70m (5'7") in the high jump for 855 points. She would go on to register a PR in the 200-meter dash with a 25.19 time. Heptathlon events continue Friday at 11:45 a.m.
After a two-hour weather delay, freshman Dominic Serem and senior
Fernando Morales returned to the track to race in the men's 1,500m prelims. Serem clocked in at 3:41.91 to qualify for the final on Saturday at 5:25 p.m.
The women's javelin throw was rescheduled for 9:15 a.m. on Friday due to weather. All other events will resume as scheduled.
