Duo in Top 15, Sooners in Sixth After 36 Holes at the Las Vegas Regional

LAS VEGAS – Oklahoma women's golf is sixth (3-over, 579) after 36 holes at the Las Vegas Regional at Spanish Trail Country Club.

Sophomore Savanah Barber remained tied for sixth (4-under, 140), firing a 3-under 69. Barber opened the tournament with a 1-under 71 on Monday and continued her steady play on Tuesday, recording eight pars and a birdie on the front nine. The Fort Worth, Texas, product drained her second birdie on the 12th before bogeys on the 14th and 15th holes. Barber ended her day with three consecutive birdies, recording the first round in the 60s by a Sooner. 

Sophomore Isabelle Schlick carded a 2-under 70 and tied for 13th (1-under, 143), tallying a 1-over 73 in the opening round. Schlick recorded birdies on the fourth and sixth holes before a one-stroke setback on the seventh, finishing the front nine 1-under 35. She tallied a birdie on the par-4 13th hole and moved to 2-under. Schlick recorded a bogey on the 15th hole and concluded the round with two pars and a birdie on the 18th. 

Junior Reagan Chaney tallied a 2-over 74 and tied for 25th (3-over, 147). The Ardmore, Okla., product recorded two birdies on the sixth and 18th holes, finishing her day with five consecutive pars before her second and final birdie. 

Sophomore Gracie Mayo and senior Nina Lang fired a 1-over 73, tallying two birdies each in the second round. Lang tied for 44th (6-over, 150), and Mayo tied for 51st (8-over, 152). 

The Sooners are one stroke back of Baylor (2-over, 578), four strokes behind Florida State (1-under 575) and five strokes back of UCLA (2-under, 574).

UP NEXT

Oklahoma concludes the Las Vegas Regional on Wednesday, May 8. The top five teams from each regional site will advance to the national championship.
