Sooners T6th After Las Vegas Regional Opening Round

LAS VEGAS – Sophomore Savannah Barber fired a 1-under 71, and Oklahoma women's golf tied for sixth (6-over, 294) after the Las Vegas Regional opening round. 

Barber tied for sixth, leading the OU lineup. The Fort Worth, Texas, product tallied five consecutive pars before her first birdie on the sixth hole. After a bogey on the seventh, she finished the front nine even par 36. Barber dropped another stroke on the 10th hole and responded with her second birdie on the 11th. After three straight pars, she drained
her third and final birdie on the 15th, moving to 1-under. Barber suffered a one-stroke setback on the 17th before a birdie on the 18th. 


Sophomore Isabelle Schlick and junior Reagan Chaney are tied for 19th, firing a 1-over 73. Schlick dropped a stroke on her opening hole and moved to even after a birdie on the third hole. After a bogey on the fifth, she recorded nine consecutive pars before a one-stroke setback on the 15th hole. Schlick ended her round with a birdie on the 18th. 

Chaney tallied bogeys on the second and third holes, moving to 2-over through three. She responded with a birdie on the sixth hole before a bogey on the seventh. The Ardmore, Okla., product drained a birdie on the ninth, finishing the front nine 1-over 37. Chaney tallied her third birdie in her last six holes on the 11th, moving to even. After one-stroke setbacks on the 13th and 17th holes, she was 2-over, capping her round with a birdie on the 18th. 

Senior Nina Lang tied for 49th (5-over5, 77), and sophomore Gracie Mayo tied for 57th (7-over, 79).

Oklahoma is tied with Arizona, two strokes back of Baylor (4-over, 292) and three strokes back of UCLA for fourth (3-over, 291).
