Sooners are No. 8 seed

NORMAN – Oklahoma women's golf was tabbed as the No. 8 seed in the Las Vegas Regional, as announced on the Golf Channel Wednesday afternoon. The Las Vegas Regional will be held at Spanish Trail Country Club May 6-8, and UNLV will be the host institution.

The Sooners will make their third regional appearance in the last four seasons and 11th regional under Oklahoma head women's golf coach Veronique Drouin-Luttrell.

"We are excited to continue our season in Las Vegas and look forward to the competition," said Drouin-Luttrell. "A new season starts now, and postseason golf is its own event. We must continue to believe in our system and put in the hard work that got us here."

Oklahoma wrapped up the regular season with a tournament victory, beating seven teams at The Match Play at Jimmie Austin OU Golf Club. OU opened postseason competition at the Big 12 Championship, tying for 10th. Junior Reagan Chaney earned All-Big 12 Tournament Team accolades and tied for eighth.

The Sooners are joined in Nevada by No. 1 UCLA, No. 2 Arkansas, No. 3 Arizona, No. 4 Florida State, No. 5 California, No. 6 Purdue, No. 7 Baylor, No. 9 Colorado State, No. 10 Kent State, No. 11 Xavier and No. 12 Dartmouth.

The top five teams at the six regional sites (30 total) will advance to the NCAA Championship at Omni La Costa Resort & Spa in Carlsbad, Calif. The championship will be played May 17-22.
