Green Collects Big 12 Weekly Honor

April 24, 2024 | Track and Field

NORMAN – University of Oklahoma track and field sophomore BJ Green was named the Big 12 Men's Track and Field Athlete of the Week, the conference announced Wednesday afternoon.

2024 Big 12 indoor titleholder, Green earned first place in the triple jump at the 64th annual Mt. SAC Relays, defeating two-time Olympian, Chris Bernard, and reigning NCAA indoor champion, Russell Robinson.

On his second attempt, Green leaped to 16.12m (52'10.75"), improving his career-best set at the 2023 NCAA Outdoor Championships. With every attempt, Green increased his personal record until he registered 16.76m (55'0") on his final jump. With this mark, the All-American ranks first in the nation and the Big 12.

Green climbs to No. 2 in Oklahoma outdoor history, trailing only behind Olympian Will Claye, who set the school record in 2008.

This accolade is Oklahoma's third weekly honor of the 2023-24 season and second for Green after grabbing the award on Jan. 31 for his performance at the Razorback Invitational.
