NORMAN – The University of Oklahoma track and field team continues their season Friday and Saturday at the Windy City Invite in Chicago. The meet will be held at the Dr. Conrad Worrill Track and Field Center.
Friday's field events are set to begin at 1 p.m. CT while running events will start at 1:30. Saturday's field events will commence at 11:15 a.m. and running events are set for 12:40 p.m. Forty-one Sooners are scheduled to compete at the meet.
"The team is genuinely excited to get all dressed up and hop on a flight to Chicago for a track meet that's been highlighted on our schedule," stated head coach James Thomas. "We rarely get regular-season opportunities to mix things up with the Big Ten and other elite programs from around the nation. Hopefully, this continues to prepare our team as we near post-season championships."
The Sooners visited College Station for the second time this season last week, marking the halfway point of their regular-season campaign.
Junior
Olivia Lueking dominated the women's pole vault field and won the event. Her 4.41 (14-5.50) mark was a season best and set an R.A. Fasken "Murray" '38 track and field facility record and Charlie Thomas Invite record. Lueking's vault also ranked as the No. 5 jump in the NCAA this season. Three more Sooners collected first-place finishes.
Nine Sooners, including Lueking, currently sit in the top 15 nationally in their respective events.
