OU Set for Two Top-25 Matchups this Weekend

The No. 15 Oklahoma wrestling team is set to hostĀ a pair of top-25 dualsĀ againstĀ No. 4 Iowa State and No. 22Ā Northern Iowa. The Sooners, who last played at McCasland Field House on Dec. 10, take on the Cyclones at 7 p.m. on Friday and the Panthers at 7Ā p.m. on Saturday.Ā

OklahomaĀ split its pair of duals at the Virginia Duals on Friday, Jan. 12, defeating No. 16 Navy, 24-11, before falling to Wisconsin, 22-16, in the Sooners' final dual of the event.

Stephen Buchanan,Ā Jared HillĀ andĀ Josh HeindselmanĀ each went 2-0 on the day as Oklahoma (5-3, 2-2 Big 12) closed its non-conference slate at the event.

Friday marks the 101stĀ meetingĀ between Oklahoma and Iowa State, with the Cyclones holding the all-time series advantage at 55-42-3.Ā

No. 4 Iowa State (9-1, 2-0 Big 12) is fresh off a 44-3 win over Big 12 foe Utah Valley.Ā The Cyclones returned 69 percent of its dual meet victories from last season's roster and 30 of its 47 points from the 2023 NCAA Championships. ISU was well represented inĀ the first coaches' ranking for the 2024 NCAA Championships on Monday. Nine Cyclones were included in the initial rankings, with six slotted inside the top 10 of their respective weight class.


The No. 22 Panthers are back in action after a two week break following a 32-6 dual win over Utah Valley in Ames. Due to a winter storm, UNI's dual was relocated to the Iowa State training facility in Ames where UVU had competed the night prior. UNI leads the all-time series against the Sooners, 14-7. Parker Keckeisen (90), Tyrell Gordon (50) and Cael Happel (47) lead the Panthers in career wins among UNI wrestlers who have spent their entire career in Cedar Falls.
