OU Geared Up For NCAA Outdoor Championships

NORMAN — Oklahoma's men's and women's track and field teams kick off the NCAA Outdoor Championships in Austin, Texas, beginning June 7, on the University of Texas campus. 

OU earned 17 entries, including two relay teams, to the championships set to begin Wednesday at 2:30 p.m. CT. The championships will close on Saturday, June 11. Kristo Simulask will get the competition started for the Sooners, competing in his first decathlon event, the 100-meter dash. Simulask grabbed his third consecutive Big 12 Multis title with 7,769 points in the men's decathlon to send him to his second and final career NCAA Championship. The first event of the decathlon will begin at 2:30 p.m. CT on Wednesday, June 7.

Nikaoli Williams will compete in the Sooners' only field event of the day at 8 p.m. CT in long jump. Williams punched his ticket to Austin after taking second at regionals.

The men's running events starts with Richard Johnson and Zarik Brown competing in the 400-meter prelims on Wednesday at 8 p.m. CT after finishing fourth and sixth, respectively, at regionals. Sophomore Josh Bour will continue running events in the 200-meter dash prelims at 8:44 p.m. CT. The men's 4x400-meter relay squad will close out day one at 9:48 p.m. CT.

Day two will open at 12:30 p.m. CT with Simulask finishing out his decathlon events, beginning with 110-meter hurdles.

Kassidy Gallagher starts the women's day in hammer throw at 3:30 p.m. CT after marking 62.89m at regionals and claiming the Big 12 Outdoor title. Sophomore Olivia Lueking takes the stage in pole vault at 7:30 p.m. CT after another incredible season. Symone Washington closes out field events at 9 p.m. CT in long jump after marking 6.17m at regionals.

The women's first running event of the day will begin at 7:32 p.m. CT with the 4x100-meter relay team taking the lane. Kennedy Blackmon will return to the track in the 100 and 200-meter dash prelims at 8:46 p.m. CT and 9:44 p.m. CT, respectively. Daneesha Davidson and Ashonti Warner take their spots in the 400-meter hurdles prelims at 9:30 p.m. CT after placing ninth and tenth, respectively, at NCAA West Regionals.

Pippi Lotta Enok starts off the heptathlon competition to open day three in the 100-meter hurdles at 2:45 p.m. CT after ranking ninth in the west.

The men's events kickoff in high jump with 2023 NCAA Indoor Champion Vernon Turner taking the stage at 7:30 p.m. CT. Freshman Brandon Green Jr. closes out field events at 8:10 p.m. CT in triple jump after leaping a PR at 15.99m at regionals and finishing fourth.

The final day of the NCAA Outdoor Championships kicks off with Lotta Enok rounding out the heptathlon, starting with long jump at 4 p.m. CT.

Those on the track can advance to Friday and Saturday's finals by advancing out of the semifinal competition on Wednesday and Thursday.
