Emily Hun and
Mikhaela Fortuna concluded the first two rounds of The Bruzzy in the top 25 and the Oklahoma women's golf team is 12th (+40, 600) after the opening day at the Dornick Country Club.
"I'm proud of Emily and how she's handled playing as an individual this week," said Oklahoma head women's golf coach
Veronique Drouin-Luttrell. "We love giving players opportunities and she's taking advantage of it. This golf course sets up great for her game and she just needs to stick to her game plan."
Hun is tied for fifth heading into the final round on Sunday. The midseason addition finished the first round 1-under 69. After dropping a pair of strokes through her first eight holes, Hun tallied three birdies and one bogey, moving to even par. Hun recorded two birdies in her final six holes.
In the second round, Hun dropped a stoke on her opening hole and promptly moved to 2-under after birdies on the fourth and sixth holes. Hun was even through her first 11 holes and dropped three strokes in the final three holes of the back nine. She ended her round on a high note, tallying a birdie on the par 4 first hole.
Fortuna is tied for 25th and carded a 5-over 75 in the opening round. Despite dropping four strokes to open play, Fortuna battled back, moving to two over through eight holes. She tallied a final birdie on the par-4 fifth hole.
Fortuna fired a 2-over 72 in the second round and tallied her lone birdie on the par-4 15th.
Kaylee Vesely enters Sunday tied for 36th and tallied a 6-over 76 and 3-over 73 in the first and second rounds, respectively. Vesely notched three birdies in each round. The Austin, Texas product recorded birdies on the second and third holes in each round.
Raychel Nelke and
Reagan Chaney are tied for 62nd (13-over, 153). Chaney made her first appearance in the Oklahoma lineup, sinking a trio of birdies. Nelke recorded a pair of birdies in the second 18.
Savannah Barber rounded out the Oklahoma lineup and is tied for 74th (18-over 158).
