ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. - TheĀ University of Oklahoma track and field team concluded day one of the NCAA Indoor Track and Field National Championships in Albuquerque, N.M., Friday evening. Ā
Sophomore Pippi Lotta Enok set the tone for the Sooners in the women's pentathlon after collectingĀ 4,400 points forĀ third place. Lotta Enok collected six personal bests, set a new school record and cemented her status as a first team All American. Ā
In the men's heptathlon, Kristo Simulask finished day one in eleventhĀ place with 3,285 points. He collected personal bests inĀ both the 60-meter dash and shot putĀ competition. The men's heptathlon will resume tomorrow at 11:30 a.m. CT with 60-meter hurdles.Ā
Next, sophomore Olivia Lueking had a season-best performance in the women's pole vault competition. Lueking cleared 14-7.25 (4.45m) to claim silver. In addition, she broke her own program record, set a new personal best and claimed a spot as a first team All American. Ā
Nikaoli Williams closed out the day for the Sooners in the men's long jump. Williams jumped 25-6.75 (7.79m) for eleventh place and a second team All American honor. Ā
Tomorrow, senior Vernon Turner looks toĀ defend his indoor national title in the high jump and the men's 4x400 relay team (Zarik Brown, Salim Epps, Josh Bour, Muzuri Mattar) will compete for a spot on the podium.Ā
