NORMAN, Okla. - The University of Oklahoma track and field team qualified six entriesĀ forĀ the NCAA Indoor Track and Field National Championships in Albuquerque, N.M., on March 10-11.
Representing the Sooners will beĀ sophomores Olivia Lueking and Pippi Lotta Enok on the women's side. On the men's side, seniors Kristo Simulask and Vernon Turner, and junior Nikaoli Williams also qualified. The men's 4x400 relay team consisting of Zarik Brown, Salim Epps, Josh Bour, and Muzuri MattarĀ will also represent OU at nationals.Ā
Lueking is returning to indoor nationals after her freshman debut last year where she took fourth place in pole vault. Lueking finished third at the 2023 Big 12 Indoor Championships after clearing 4.09m. LuekingĀ currently holds the school record in pole vault at 14-7.5 (4.46m). This season she has finished in first place twice and she currently sitsĀ 13th in the NCAA. Ā
Lotta Enok will make her NCAA debutĀ in the women's pentathlon. The Estonian native took home the women's pentathlon title at the 2023 Big 12 Indoor Championships after collecting 4,207 points. She collected six personal bests and set a new program record. She currently ranks eighth in the NCAA. Ā
Williams has had a stellar indoor season with the Sooners. The Northwestern State transfer won the Big 12 title in the men's long jump last weekend after clearing 25-4.5 (7.73m). At the Windy City Invitational, Williams shatteredĀ a 33-year-old school record in long jump with a clearance of 26-5.5 (8.06m). He currently is ranked fifth in the NCAA. Ā
Turner is the reigning NCAA indoor high jump champion and isĀ looking to go back-to-back at this year's national championship. At the 2023 Big 12 Indoor Championship, Turner cleared 7-5.75 (2.28m) to claim his second indoor Big 12 title in a row. The redshirt senior is the current program record holder, the NCAA collegiate leader,Ā and No. 4 in the world in high jump. Ā
Simulask will return to the NCAA Indoor National Championship in the men's heptathlon. The Estonian native won the 2023 Big 12 Title in the men's heptathlon after scoring a career-best 5,939 points, setting a new school and meet record. Simulask is currentlyĀ ninth in the NCAA. Ā
The men's 4x400 relay squad (Zarik Brown, Salim Epps, Josh Bour and Muzuri Mattar) will represent the Sooners at indoor nationals. Last weekend, they clocked a 3:02.77, the sixth fastest time in the NCAA this season. Their performance set a new school, facility, and meet record. The 4x400 alternates includeĀ Gage Hensey, Richard Kuykendoll and Jaylen Barringer. Ā

The qualified Sooners will travel to the NCAA Indoor Championships in Albuquerque, N.M., March 10-11. The rest of the squad will prepare for their first outdoor meet at the Island Bahamas Relays, March 17-18.Ā
