Williams Breaks School Record in Chicago

NORMAN, Okla – The University of Oklahoma track and field team concluded its first day of competition at the Windy City Invitational in Chicago, Ill., and the Tiger Paw Invitational in Clemson, S.C.
At Clemson, OU competed in the men's 400-meter dash with Zarik Brown crossing the finish line with the fastest time for the Sooners at 46.40.
The men's 4x400 relay team (Zarik Brown, Richard Kuykendoll, Gage Hensey, Muzuri Mattar, and Josh Bour) will compete tomorrow at 2:45 p.m. CT.
The Tiger Paw Invitational will be streamed live on ACCNX, while live stats are provided by Athletic Live.
In Chicago, the Sooners started the day off with a broken school record by Nikaoli Williams in the men's long jump. Williams jumped for 26-05.5 (8.06m) to surpass the previous school record set by Russell Adams (7.89m) in 1990. This first-place performance puts Williams first in the Big 12 and fourth in the NCAA.
On the women's side of the long jump, Jasmine Akins jumped for 20-08 (6.30m) to take home first place and a facility record. Akins currently sits at second in the Big 12.
On the track, Jaylen Barringer crossed the finish line second in the men's 400m dash with a time of 48.12.
Freshman David Warmington collected a personal best in the men's 60-meter hurdles with a blistering time of 8.03.
The women's weight throw saw senior Abby Moore throw for 66-01.25 (20.16m) which placed her in third.
Back on the track, Ashonti Warner crossed the finish line first in the women's 400-meter dash with a personal-best time of 53.39.
The women's 60-meter dash saw Kennedy Blackmon (7.343), Eva Kubickova (7.40), and Mikayla Hayes (7.43) finish in fourth, fifth and sixth place, respectively.
On the men's side, A'lajuwan Robinson collected a personal-best time of 6.71 for third place.
Edita Sklenska competed in the women's 800-meter run and recorded a time of 2:12.96, while Anass Mghari crossed the finish line at 1:50.37 on the men's side.
To close out the day, Yazmine Wright ran an impressive personal-best time of 4:37.76 in the women's mile for fourth place.
