Williams Breaks School Record in Chicago

NORMAN, Okla – The University of Oklahoma track and field team concluded its first day of competition at the Windy City Invitational in Chicago, Ill., and the Tiger Paw Invitational in Clemson, S.C.Ā Ā 

At Clemson, OU competed in the men's 400-meter dash with Zarik Brown crossing the finish line with the fastest time for the Sooners at 46.40. Ā 

The men's 4x400 relay team (Zarik Brown, Richard Kuykendoll, Gage Hensey,Ā Muzuri Mattar, and Josh Bour)Ā will compete tomorrow at 2:45 p.m. CT.Ā Ā 

The Tiger Paw Invitational will be streamed live on ACCNX, while live stats are provided by Athletic Live.Ā 

In Chicago, the Sooners started the day off with a broken school record by Nikaoli Williams in the men's long jump. Williams jumped for 26-05.5 (8.06m) to surpass the previous school record set by Russell Adams (7.89m) in 1990. This first-place performance puts Williams first in the Big 12 and fourth in the NCAA.Ā Ā 

On the women's side of the long jump, Jasmine Akins jumped for 20-08 (6.30m) to take home first place and a facility record. Akins currently sits at second in the Big 12.Ā Ā 

On the track, Jaylen Barringer crossed the finish line second in the men's 400m dash with a time of 48.12.Ā Ā 

Freshman David Warmington collected a personal best in the men's 60-meter hurdles with a blistering time of 8.03.Ā Ā 

The women's weight throw saw senior Abby Moore throw for 66-01.25 (20.16m) which placed her in third.Ā Ā 

Back on the track, Ashonti Warner crossed the finish line first in the women's 400-meter dash with a personal-best time of 53.39.Ā Ā 

The women's 60-meter dash saw Kennedy Blackmon (7.343), Eva Kubickova (7.40), and Mikayla Hayes (7.43) finish in fourth, fifth and sixth place, respectively.Ā Ā 

On the men's side, A'lajuwan Robinson collected a personal-best time of 6.71 for third place.Ā Ā 

Edita Sklenska competed in the women's 800-meter run and recorded a time of 2:12.96, while Anass Mghari crossed the finish line at 1:50.37 on the men's side.Ā Ā 

To close out the day, Yazmine Wright ran an impressive personal-best time ofĀ  4:37.76Ā  in the women's mile for fourth place.Ā Ā
