NORMAN – The reigning three-time national champion Oklahoma softball team will open the 2024 season Feb. 8-10 in Mexico at the Puerto Vallarta College Challenge. The field and schedule was announced Wednesday by event organizer Triple Crown Sports.
Three of the Sooners' four opponents in the event competed in the 2023 NCAA Tournament, including fellow Women's College World Series participant Washington. Duke and Long Beach State also reached the postseason last season.
Oklahoma will open the 2024 campaign on Thursday, Feb. 8 with a doubleheader against Utah Valley at 10:30 a.m. CT and Duke at 1 p.m. CT OU will then face Washington on Friday, Feb. 9, at 8:30 p.m. CT and close out the weekend against Long Beach State at 1 p.m. CT on Saturday, Feb. 10.
The event will be played at Nancy Almaraz Stadium in Puerto Vallarta, Mexico. Live streaming of all games will be available via FloSoftball on a subscription basis. Ticket information for the event is available

This will be the third time Oklahoma competes south of the border at the Puerto Vallarta College Challenge. The Sooners also participated in the event in 2020, finishing with a perfect 4-0 record and outscoring opponents 27-9. OU also competed in the 2017 event and went 2-2.
Widely regarded as one of the premier tournaments designed to launch the softball season, the Puerto Vallarta College Challenge began in 2015. It was the first Division I softball event held outside of the United States and has included top-tier programs from Power Five conferences as well as a deep pool of strong mid-major schools. The Mexico Olympic team also played in the tournament in 2020.
