The 22nd-ranked Oklahoma Sooners concluded their trip to Iowa with a 23-12 loss to No. 15 Northern Iowa on Sunday afternoon.
UNI (5-3, 3-2 Big 12) entered the contest with eight wrestlers ranked in the top-20 of their respective classes, including No. 1 Parker Keckeisen at 184 pounds.
In the opening bout of the afternoon, No. 21 Joey Prata's 2-0 decision win over Kyle Gollhofer came without any takedown. An escape in the third and a riding time point granted Prata his 14th win of his graduate season.
No. 27 Mosha Schwartz picked up his second top-15 win of the season with a 2-1 decision win over No. 7 Cael Happel. After avoiding multiple shots, his riding time early in the bout snapped the 1-1 tie.
The next win for the Sooners (7-5, 1-3 Big 12) was supplied by Tate Picklo in the 174-pound battle. With a four-point near-fall in the third period, Picklo separated from No. 12 Lance Runyon to win 9-5 and grab his second Top-25 win of the weekend.Ā
In a top-20 clash, No. 19 Josh Heindselman was victorious over No. 11 Tyrell Gordon 4-2 after snatching the winning takedown in SV-1. His win over Gordon marks his third over the Panther.
John Wiley fell just short, 7-6, to No. 11 Colin Realbuto in a back-and-forth battle. In the 133 pound bout, No. 27 Wyatt Henson was pinned by No. 11 Kyle Biscoglia. Jared Hill fell 4-1 to No. 20 Derek Holschlag at 157 pounds. Alejandro Herrera-Rondon dropped the 165-pound match, 12-1. Returning to his former school, Keegan Moore slipped 4-1 to No. 1 Parker Keckeisen in the 184-pound bout. Carson Berryhill lost 9-1 to Noah Glaser in the 197-pound bout.
Oklahoma will return to McCasland for its final two home duals of the 2022-23 season, beginning with No. 9 Missouri at 7 p.m. CT on Friday, Feb. 4 and ending with Rider at 2 p.m. CT on Sunday, Feb. 5. Both contests will be televised on ESPN+.
