Sirman Promoted to Women's Golf Associate Head Coach

August 01, 2022 | Women's Golf

NORMAN – Oklahoma women's golf head coach Veronique Drouin-Luttrell announced the promotion of Ryan Sirman from assistant to associate head coach Monday.

Sirman, a former Sooners standout for the men's team, started his career with his alma mater in 2018 and has aided in the development of the program alongside Drouin-Luttrell. During his four-year span as an assistant coach, the Sooners have recorded four of the top seven stroke averages in program history.

In addition, the Sooners have reached a NCAA Regional in each season that the regional round was held.

"Ryan is a hard worker and an excellent coach that has been instrumental in what we are doing at Oklahoma," said Drouin-Luttrell. "He has aided in the development of our players and pushes them to play their best golf. I'm proud of what Ryan means to the program and myself. His promotion is well deserved and I look forward to his continued success with the program."

Sirman has assisted in the development of the three lowest individual season and career scoring averages in program history. Hannah Screen, who finished her career in the Crimson and Cream in 2022, is Oklahoma's career scoring average leader (72.5). Screen, Kaitlin Milligan and Libby Winans rank as the top three golfers in career scoring average, and all finished their careers under the tutelage of Drouin-Luttrell and Sirman.

"I would like to thank Coach Veronique Drouin-Luttrell, our sports administrator Matt Schaeperkoetter and OU Vice President and Athletics Director Joe Castiglione for their continued belief in me," said Sirman. "I am grateful and beyond blessed to continue my coaching career at my alma mater and be around a university and program I hold in the highest regards. I'm excited to continue to pour my heart and soul into our athletes and help them chase their dreams. Boomer Sooner."

Sirman competed for the Sooners from 2007 through 2011 and was named a captain his senior campaign. He aided in the Sooner's top-20 finish at the 2011 NCAA Championships and was named to the Golf Coaches Association of America All-Region Team.

Following his playing career, Sirman worked as a graduate assistant for the Oklahoma men's and women's golf programs from 2011-13. The women's golf team produced ties for sixth (2012) and ninth place (2013) at the NCAA Championships and featured individual national champion Chirapat Jao-Javanil. The men's team finished 11th nationally both years.

Sirman graduated from OU in 2011 with a bachelor's degree in business communication and in 2013 with a master's degree in higher education with an emphasis in intercollegiate athletics administration.
