NORMAN — University of Oklahoma senior Grace Lyons was named to the 2022 U.S. Women's National Team (WNT) roster for the upcoming Japan All-Star Series, USA Softball announced the Sooner shortstop as one of six roster additions on Wednesday.

Lyons joins teammates Jayda Coleman, Kinzie Hansen and Tiare Jennings on the roster for the three-game series with Team Japan, set to take place in Fukushima/Yokohama, Japan, August 6-9. It marks the first appearance on a USA Softball national team roster of the two-time All-American Lyon's career.

The Sooners pace all universities with four student-athletes on the 15-player roster for the series. Coleman and Jennings will also be making their senior national team debuts in competition after earning their spots on the team last spring during the USA Softball Selection Trials. In total, five Sooners hold USA Softball WNT roster spots (OU graduate Jocelyn Alo, Coleman, Hansen, Jennings and Lyons).

Most recently, Hansen won a gold medal with Team USA at the 2022 World Games in Birmingham, Ala., while two-time USA Softball Collegiate Player of the Year, Alo, helped the U.S. claim gold earlier this summer at the Canada Cup in Surrey, B.C., Canada.

The U.S. team traveling to Japan will hold a series of practice sessions August 2-5 prior to No. 1 Team USA and No. 2 Japan kicking off the three-game series on Saturday, August 6. Two more games will follow on August 7-8. Live stats and streaming will be announced at the later date, per USA Softball.
