NORMAN — University of Oklahoma track and field junior Payden Montana was named the women's Big 12 Outdoor Track and Field Athlete of the Week, the conference announced on Wednesday afternoon.
Montana was selected to compete in the women's shot put invite at the Hurricane Alumni Invitational, where she marked a personal record at 58-8.00 (17.88m) to place first.
With the record-breaking throw, Montana moved to first in the Big 12, tied for first in the nation and tied for eighth in the world. In the Sooners' third meet of the outdoor season, Montana collected her second first-place mark and moved to No. 3 in Oklahoma history.
The accolade marks Oklahoma's fourth weekly honor of the 2022 season and third for the outdoor season.
Montana and the Sooners will host their first outdoor meet of the season, the Sooner Invitational & Multis on April 15-16.
