NORMAN — University of Oklahoma track and field senior Bayley Campbell was named the men's Big 12 Outdoor Track and Field Athlete of the Week, the conference announced Wednesday.
The Windsor, England native made his presence known at the first outdoor meet of the season, the TCU Invitational. Campbell threw a first-place mark at 219-00 (66.76m) in men's hammer throw to break the school record, place first in the Big 12 and place ninth in the NCAA.
This marks Bayley Campbell's first career Big 12 Athlete of the Week honor and the Sooners' second weekly accolade this season.
Campbell and the Sooners are currently at the four-day Texas Relays meet in Austin, Texas.
