Sooners Leave Arkansas Successful

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – The Oklahoma track and field team competed in their last regular season meet of the 2021-22 season in Fayetteville, Ark. at the Arkansas Qualifier on Friday.
 
The team racked up a broken meet record and multiple personal and season bests.
 
Starting off the day, senior Bayley Campbell threw a personal best at 66-4.25 (20.22m) for third place, while redshirt senior Edward Jeans marked a 63-5 (19.33m) in men's weight throw.
 
On the women's side, redshirt senior Lauren Jones broke the Arkansas Qualifier record and marked a season best of 67-3.5 (20.51m) for a first-place finish.
 
Keeping up the momentum, redshirt senior Rayvon Allen leaped a personal best at 25-10 (7.87m) for first place. Adding on, Allen moved to No. 1 in the conference, No. 8 in the NCAA and tied No. 2 in OU indoor history.
 
In men's shot put, redshirt senior Cooper Campbell marked a 59-4 (18.08m), while junior Diego Trevino threw a season best at 57-9 (17.60m), taking second and third, respectively.
 
Junior Mikeisha Welcome leaped a personal best of 44-6 (13.56m) in women's triple jump, tying for first in OU indoor history, moving to No. 4 in conference and tying for 10th in the NCAA. Senior Daneesha Davidson marked a third-place finish at 41-10.75 (12.77m).
 
Closing out throws, junior Payden Montana threw to first place, marking 54-9.50 (16.70m) in women's shot put. Adding on, Lauren Jones marked a season best and moved to No. 5 in conference with a 52-5.25 (15.98m) to take second, while Paige Low placed fourth with a PR mark at 51-1.5 (15.58m) to move to No. 7 in the Big 12.
 
The Sooners closed out field events in men's triple jump as Garry Williams leaped to third with a mark at 50-11 (15.52m).
 
On the track, Karson Kowalchuk, Demarius Smith and Josh Bour advanced to the men's 60-meter dash, where they finished fourth, fifth and seventh, respectively.
 
In the men's 400-meter dash, junior Richard Kuykendoll took third with a time of 47.78, while freshman Jaylen Barringer clocked a personal best at 48.16.
 
Demarius Smith was back in action for the men's 200-meter dash, where he clocked a season best at 20.89 for second place and moved to No. 7 in the Big 12.

Closing out the meet, the men's 4x400-meter relay team made up of Demarius Smith, Isaiah Levingston, Richard Kuykendoll and Rayvon Allen clocked a season best at 3:07.53 to take first place.
