OKLAHOMA CITY – Oklahoma rowing concluded its first race of the year on Saturday at the Head of the Oklahoma on the Oklahoma River.
"It was a great day to race in Oklahoma City, getting to the line three times for most of our rowers," said head coach Sarah Trowbridge. "They earned five medals over the day and walked away happy, but not satisfied, which is a good place to be heading into October!"
The Sooners started competition with the women's collegiate singles with all five boats finishing in the top 10, highlighted by senior Andjela Nisevic taking first place with a time at 17:30.2.
OU entered five boats into the women's collegiate four races with a pair of boats finishing inside the top 15. The Sooners' A boat led the way with a seventh-place finish in 16:03.2, while the B boat tallied a time of 16:25.5 for 13th. The remaining three entries finished 17th E, 21st (D) and 22nd C.
The women's collegiate eight competition saw three Sooner boats. Team A recorded a second-place finish in 14:50.3, boat B clocked a 15:33.9 for eighth and OU's C boat tallied a time of 15:49.4 for 11th place.
The Sooners' A boat secured a second-place finish (1:36.48) in the 500-meter night sprints.
