T&F Set for NCAA Outdoor Championships

NORMAN — Oklahoma's men's and women's track and field teams kick off the NCAA Outdoor Championships in Eugene, Ore., beginning June 9, on the University of Oregon campus. 

OU earned 14 entries, including two relay teams to the championships set to begin Wednesday at 4:30 p.m. CT. The championships will close on Saturday, June 12. Junior Bayley Campbell will get the competition started for the Sooners, competing first in the men's hammer throw. After throwing a personal best 216-3 (65.91m) at NCAA West Regional, Campbell punched his ticket, finishing in the top 10 overall. The junior from Great Britain is making his first NCAA championships appearance. Campbell will compete at 4:30 p.m. CT on Wednesday, May 9.

Senior Rayvon Allen is one of three horizontal jumpers slated to compete. Allen, the long jump school-record holder, finished first at the NCAA West Regional Prelims with a jump of 26-8.25 (8.13m) to earn his spot in Oregon. Allen is also set to compete as a leg of the men's 4x400-meter relay team. The senior will make his NCAA championships debut at 8:30 p.m. on Wednesday for the men's long jump. 

Redshirt junior Isaiah Levingston will join in on Wednesday night's action, competing in the semifinal of the men's 400-meter hurdles. Levingston impressed at the NCAA West Regional Prelims, setting OU's school record, the E.B. Cushing Stadium facility record and the No. 1 time in the country on the season in the event. The Oklahoma native took first with a time of 48.58. Levingston will make his debut at 9 p.m. then return to the track as a leg of the men's 4x400-meter relay. 

The first night of action will close out with the semifinal of the men's 4x400-meter relay. The West Regional Prelim team, consisting of freshman Salim Epps, senior Devaniel Dale, Allen and Levingston, clocked a time of 3:04.68 to punch their ticket. The squad will race at 10:18 p.m. on Wednesday.

Day two action will highlight the women's qualifiers. The women's 4x100-meter relay team will get Thursday started at 5:32 p.m. The squad, consisting of senior Camri Austin, junior Kennedy Blackmon, junior Deborah Giffard and senior Ja'Leesa Giles, clocked a 43.90 to earn their spot in the championships. 

Oklahoma qualified four vertical jumpers to the NCAA championships, with redshirt senior Sydney King competing first. King cleared a personal-best height 14-0 (4.27m) to punch her championships ticket in the women's pole vault. The redshirt senior will make her debut at 6 p.m. 

Junior Madison Langley-Walker earned two spots in the NCAA Outdoor Championships, competing in the women's 400-meter hurdles and high jump. Langley-Walker set the school record in the women's 400-meter hurdles, running a 57.40 at the West Regional Prelims. The junior cleared a personal-best height of 5-11.5 (1.82m) in the women's high jump at the prelims, finishing in a tie for first place. The junior will take the track at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday then will compete in the high jump at 4:30 p.m. on Saturday. 

Sophomore Payden Montana will compete in the women's shot put. Montana threw 55-2 (16.81m) at the NCAA West Regional Prelims, finishing in the top 10 and earning her spot in Oregon. The sophomore will make her NCAA championships debut, competing at 7:40 p.m. 

Thursday's action will close out for the Sooners on the track. Blackmon will race in the semifinal of the women's 200-meter dash at 7:44 p.m. Blackmon ran a personal best 23.13 at the NCAA West Regional Prelims to punch her ticket to the NCAA Outdoor Championships. 

All-American Vernon Turner will make his return to Eugene, Ore., competing in the men's high jump. Turner, who has competed in three NCAA championships, cleared a height of 7-2.25 (2.19m) in the prelims to advance to Oregon. The redshirt junior earned first-team All-America honors at the 2018 NCAA Outdoor Championships in Oregon. Turner will be making his second NCAA championships appearance on the season, following a first-team All-America performance at the 2021 NCAA Indoor Championships. The Sooner will start Friday's action, competing at 6:30 p.m.  

Redshirt junior Jelaani Davis, one of three horizontal jumpers to qualify to the championships, will compete in the men's triple jump at 7:20 p.m. Davis jumped a personal best 52-6.75 (16.02m) to earn his spot in the championships. The redshirt junior will make his NCAA championships debut Friday night. 

Two Sooners are slated to compete in the women's high jump on Saturday, June 12, at 4:30 p.m. Senior Falyn Reaugh will join Langley-Walker in the competition. Reaugh cleared 5-9.75 (1.77m) at the prelims to advance to Oregon's championships. The senior will be making her second NCAA championships appearance, earning second-team All-America honors at the 2019 NCAA Indoor Championships. 

Sophomore Mikeisha Welcome is set to compete in the women's triple jump at 5:20 p.m. Welcome jumped 43-10 (13.36m) at the West Regional Prelims, advancing to the outdoor championships. The sophomore will make her second NCAA championships appearance on the season, earning first-team All-America honors at the 2021 NCAA Indoor Championships. 

Those on the track can advance to Friday and Saturday's finals by advancing out of the semifinal competition on Wednesday and Thursday.
