T&F Punches Two Tickets on Second Day

COLLEGE STATION, Texas — Oklahoma's women's track and field teams concluded day two of the NCAA West Regional Prelims in College Station, Thursday evening.Ā 

The women punched two tickets to the NCAA Outdoor Championships in Eugene, Ore., June 9-12, and advanced two student-athletes to the quarterfinal of their respective races on Saturday. After two days, OU has qualified four athletes to the NCAA competition in Oregon.

The Sooners' first NCAA Outdoor Championships qualifier on the women's side and third overall for the team came from redshirt senior Sydney King in the pole vault. King cleared a personal best 14-0 (4.27m) height to earn her ticket to Eugene. She is set to make her NCAA Outdoor Championships debut. Senior Abby Bilsbury cleared a height of 12-10.25 (3.92m) to finish in 26th.Ā 

Sophomore Payden Montana punched her tickĀ to theĀ NCAA championship in the shot put with a mark of 55-2 (16.81m). Montana is set to make her championshipĀ debut. Senior Lauren Jones and junior Faith Ette went back-to-back, taking 19th and 20th, respectively. Jones threw 52-6 (16.00m), while Ette recorded a mark of 52-5.5 (15.99m).

On the track, junior Kennedy Blackmon qualified to the quarterfinals of the women's 100 and 200-meter dashes. She ran all-conditions personal records in both races, finishing in 11.20 and 22.73, respectively. Blackmon will return to the track at 7:05 p.m. and 8:10 p.m. CT on Saturday.Ā 

Junior Madison Langley-Walker secured a lane in Saturday's quarterfinal of the women's 400-meter hurdles with a personal best 58.19. Langley-Walker will race at 7:55 p.m. Senior Erin Huls joined Langley-Walker in the race, clocking a time of 1:00.82 to finish 36th.Ā 

In the women's long jump, junior Symone Washington impressed with a personal-best jump of 20-10 (6.35m), finishing 13th — one spot behind the qualifyingĀ cutoff. Washington's jump places her in a tie for fifth on OU's all-time top-10 list. Senior Essence Thomas jumped 18-0.25 (5.49m). Both student-athletes will compete in the women's triple jump at 3:15 p.m., Saturday.Ā 

Senior Camri Austin competed in the women's 100-meter hurdles and dash, finishing in 13.39 and an all-conditions personal best 11.57, respectively. She placed 31st in the 100-meter hurdles and 37th in the 100-meter dash.Ā 

In the women's 400-meter dash, senior Jai'Lyn Merriweather was the lone Sooner to compete. Merriweather clocked a 54.24 to finishĀ 33rd.Ā 

Sophomore Kayla Kurtz represented the Sooners on the women's side of the javelin throw, recording a mark of 149-10 (45.68m). She finished 32nd in her NCAA West Regional debut.Ā 

Senior Ja'Leesa Giles closed out the night for the Sooners, running a 23.52 in the women's 200-meter dash. Giles finished 34th.Ā 

Due to technical difficulties in the women's hammer throw competition, Jones will compete Friday with the event beginning at 11 a.m. CT. Live results can be found via Flash Results. The meet will be streamed on SECN+ beginning at 5:30 p.m. CT.Ā
