Sooners Cap Day One of West Regional

COLLEGE STATION, Texas — Oklahoma's men's track and field teams opened the NCAA West Regional Prelims in College Station on Wednesday. 

The Sooners qualified two student-athletes to the NCAA Outdoor Championships in Eugene, Ore., June 9-12, and advanced four runners to their respective quarterfinal races on Friday. The top 12 marks in field events advance to NCAAs, while the top 12 in quarterfinal or semifinal races on the track earn a spot in Eugene. 

Junior Bayley Campbell punched the Sooners' first ticket to the NCAA Outdoor Championships, qualifying in the men's hammer throw. Campbell threw 216-3 (65.91m) to finish 10th and earn his spot in Eugene, Ore. Campbell is set to make his NCAA championships debut. He was joined by senior Edward Jeans in the event. Jeans threw 210-9 (64.25m) to finish in 14th

School-record holder and senior Rayvon Allen took first in the men's long jump, securing his spot in the NCAA Outdoor Championships. Allen, the lone Sooner in the event, jumped 26-8.25 (8.13m). The senior will make his NCAA championships debut. 

The men's squad qualified four student-athletes to the quarterfinals competition on Friday. 

Senior Jasher Foster earned a lane in the quarterfinal of the men's 110-meter hurdles, clocking a season-best 13.85. He will race again at 6:45 p.m. CT on Friday. 

In the men's 100-meter dash, both Sooners who raced advanced to Friday's competition. Redshirt senior Jackson Webb and senior Demarius Smith finished in 10.12 and 10.21, respectively, to earn lanes in the quarterfinal. The pair will take the track at 7:05 p.m.  

Redshirt junior Isaiah Levingston earned the men's fourth and final quarterfinal spot. The Okla. native clocked a 50.13 in the men's 400-meter hurdles to earn a lane on Friday. Levingston will compete again at 7:55 p.m. 

Three Sooners in the men's throws squad concluded their season Wednesday night. In the men's javelin throw, senior Josh Haus threw 189-1 (57.63m) to finish 36th. Senior Cooper Campbell and redshirt senior Bradley Daboub competed in the men's shot put, finishing 17th and 23rd, respectively. Campbell recorded a mark of 61-0.25 (18.60m), while Daboub threw a personal best 59-7.25 (18.18m). His mark moves him from ninth to seventh on OU's all-time top-10 list. 

On the track, freshman Salim Epps clocked a 47.38 in the men's 400-meter dash. Epps finished 35th in his NCAA West Regional debut. He will compete on Friday as a leg of the men's 4x400-meter relay. 

Action resumes Thursday at 1:30 p.m. with the women's hammer and javelin throw. Fifteen women are slated to compete for OU in Thursday's competition. Live results can be found on Flash Results. The meet will be streamed on SECN+ beginning at 6 p.m.
