Contingent of Sooners Qualify for West Regional

NORMAN — Oklahoma's men's and women's track and field teams qualified 33 individuals and three relay teams to the NCAA West Regional in College Station, Texas, on the campus of Texas A&M, May 26-29. The final regional qualifiers were announced Thursday morning by the NCAA and USTFCCCA.

Student-athletes that qualified had to have been ranked in the top 48 of their respective events or be among the top 24 relay teams. Competitors with the top 12 times or marks in their individual events advance to Eugene, Ore., and the NCAA Outdoor Championships, held June 9-12 at Hayward Field on the campus of the University of Oregon. For relay teams, the best 12 relay teams at both the East and West Preliminary round sites qualify.

Of the Sooners selected, 20 of are repeat qualifiers. Fourteen of the Sooner entries are in the top 10 of their event on the regional performance list.
