NORMAN — Each year the University of Oklahoma track and field team honors the outgoing senior class at the John Jacobs Invitational in Norman.Ā 

With the annual home meet in Norman being canceled for 2020, the coaching staff chose to honor the accomplishedĀ class virtually, below. Returning for their NCAA-granted extra year of eligibility or not, these Sooners left a lasting legacy at Oklahoma.

"This senior class has shown phenomenal leadership in modeling Sooner Magic," said OU interim head coach Tim Langford. Ā "I'm grateful to have such a class to work with in my transition to OU.

"You all are true champions both on and off the playing surface."


GRACE BARBER

TF, Barber

Cross Country, DistanceĀ | Tulsa, Okla.

  • Three-time First Team Big 12 All-Academic honoree
  • Three-time USTFCCCA XC All-Academic Team member
OU associate head cross country coach and assistant T&F distance coach Charmaine Darden on Barber:
"Grace was kind and strong willed. She gave her all every day at practice."

XAVIER BROWN

TF, Brown

Sprints | Palmdale, Calif.

  • 2019 NCAA Outdoor Second Team All-American (4x100-Meter Relay)Ā 
  • Four-time Big 12 Championship ScorerĀ 
  • Two-time NCAA Outdoor Championships Qualifier
  • Holds three top-10 relay spots in the OU program record book

"Xavier has been a workhorse and a catalyst for our program success. Ā I think it's amazing how he pushes everyone to be better by leading by example."

BRADLEY DABOUB

  • Holds top-10 spots in the OU program record book for indoor and outdoor shot put

"Brad has been a constant source of energy for our team. He has been a consistent Big 12 point scorer and always shows up when he needs to. Its been an honor to watch him grow into the competitor and man that he is today!"

OU volunteer assistant throws coach Allison Boevers on Daboub:
"Our entire program is going to miss Bradley Daboub. As a competitor, he has grown into a steadfast contributor. Off the field, he has transformed into a man of refined character and assured leadership. He is inquisitive, hardworking, dedicated, unwaveringly loyal, and sold-out to the idea of doing whatever it takes to be his best. He has scored at all but one conference championship in his career thus far, and he continuously encourages his peers and teammates to push themselves to be their best. We are thrilled to unexpectedly have Brad back for an additional year and are looking forward to seeing what he will achieve in his victory lap."

MEIA GORDON

  • Two-time Big 12 All-Academic First Team honoree

"Meia is a steadfast anchor for our program. You get the same Meia day in and day out which is what has led her to the success she has had. She has a phenomenal sense of humor and is the glue that holds us together!"

OU volunteer assistant throws Coach Allison Boevers on Gordon:
"It has been an incredible honor to walk alongside Meia in her college athletic career. Meia is a perfectionist, she is a team-player, and she never stops learning about things she is passionate about. There is no doubt that she will succeed in whatever chapter of life she embarks on at the completion of her competitive track and field career. Meia Gordon is graduating as a Big 12 champion and will compete for one last season this spring, in a Sooner uniform, to defend that honor. It will be hard to say see you later at the end, but we are more than proud and expectant of the great things she will accomplish in the next phase of her life."Ā

OU assistant vertical jumps/combined events coach Jerel Langley on Gray:
"Meg will be greatly missed here at OU. Her tenacity and competitiveness lead her to achieve great things in her time here. With everything she went through in her time here and her perseverance to still achieve at a very high level, I know she will conquer the working world and do great things."

LUCAS KELLEY

Pole Vault | Massillon, Ohio

  • 12 Top-five finishes (Pole Vault)

"It has been awesome watching Lucas grow over the past 4 years. He has always been great energy at practice, light-hearted, just a real positive presence to be around! Glad we get him back for one more go 'round!"Ā

"Amanda arrived at OU with all of the prerequisites any coach would want. A hard-working athlete and an incredible academic skill set. Throughout her four years here, she pushed herself on and off the track, never straying from the path to excellence. The leadership she provided through her social activism will become the standard for future athletes to follow. Thanks Amanda, NEVA LET UP!!"
