Sooners Victorious at Mark Colligan Memorial

NORMAN — The University of Oklahoma men's and women's track and field teams closed out the Mark Colligan Memorial in Lincoln, Neb., on Saturday, recording 10 wins and numerous personal bests on the day.

"I am excited about what we did today," said interim head coach Tim Langford. "For the kids to come out and improve in every area, it showed our togetherness."

For the second week in a row, junior Essence Thomas took home the women's long jump crown. The Big 12 Athlete of the Week leaped 20-3.50 (6.18m) in the event. Sophomore Symone Washington finished two spots behind Thomas, leaping 19-1.50 (5.83m). Redshirt sophomore Nura Muhammad and senior Amanda Van Buren tied for fourth place, recording a jump of 18-9.00 (5.71m). Redshirt freshman Deja Alexis earned a seventh-place finish with a jump of 18-7.25 (8.67m). Sophomore Madison Langley-Walker jumped 17-6.75 (5.35m), while sophomore Nicole Ezeoke leaped for 17-5.25 (5.31m).

On the men's side of the long jump, junior Rayvon Allen took first place with his 24-3.75 (7.41m) jump. Allen was joined by two other teammates in the top 10. Sophomore Golden Eke recorded a jump of 22-9.00 (6.93m), earning fifth place, while redshirt sophomore Jelaani Davis leaped for 22-1.00 (6.73m), notching a sixth-place finish. Freshman Eli Darrough jumped for 19-5.50 (5.93m) in his long-jump debut.

School-record holder Mikeisha Welcome recorded another victory in the women's triple jump, leaping 42-0.50 (12.81m). Sophomore Allanah Lee came in third place with her 40-2.25 (12.25m) jump, while Ezeoke leaped for 39-11.50 (12.18m). Ezeoke's jump was good for a fourth-place finish.

Davis took first place in the men's triple jump, leaping for 50-4.50 (15.35m). Junior Garry Williams jumped 50-1.75 (15.28m), while Eke recorded a 48-8.25 (14.84m) jump. Williams finished in second place and Eke finished in fourth.

OU came out with first place in the both the women's and men's high jump. Langley-Walker took the women's high jump crown while recording a personal best in the event. The sophomore cleared 5-8.00 (1.73m). On the men's side, redshirt sophomore Vernon Turner secured the win, clearing 7-0.25 (2.14m). Turner's high-jump victory was his second on the season.

On the track, junior Joseph Sheffield took first place in the men's 60-meter dash. Sheffield crossed the line at 6.704, earning a personal record. In the prelims, the junior recorded a time of 6.79. Fellow junior Demarius Smith finished one spot behind Sheffield, coming in at 6.706. Smith's prelims time was 6.79. Senior Jackson Webb held the No. 1 spot in the preliminary competition and took third place in the finals. Webb's final time was 6.72. The trio was joined by Ellis in the finals. The sophomore crossed the line in 6.85, securing a seventh-place finish and setting a personal record. Freshman Alajuwan Robinson finished in the top-10 with a time of 6.92. Senior Xavier Brown crossed the line at 6.98, while Darrough crossed at 7.12.

The Sooners' seventh win of the day came from junior Dai'lyn Merriweather in the women's 200-meter dash. Merriweather completed the race in 23.99. The junior was joined in the top three by Giles and sophomore Kennedy Blackmon. Giles finished in 24.33 which was good for second place with Blackmon finished in 24.51, earning third place. 

On the men's side of the event, Smith took home the men's 200-meter crown, crossing the line in 21.39. Ellis finished in 21.74, earning third place. Brown's 21.85 finish was good for fifth place. Robinson finished the race in 22.28, notching an eighth-place finish.

Oklahoma's final individual victory came in the women's 400-meter dash. Junior Jai'Lyn Merriweather joined her twin sister in the victory count. Merriweather completed the race in 54.76. Junior Myah Bowen's 59.13 time was good for seventh place.

Junior Abby Bilsbury finished the women's pole vault in second place, in addition to setting a personal record. Bilsbury cleared 13-0.25 (3.97m) in the event. 

In the women's shot put, redshirt senior Meia Gordon set a personal record with her 54-9.50 (16.70m) throw. Gordon's throw was good for a second-place finish. In addition, Gordon improved her fourth-place spot on OU's all-time record list. Sophomore Faith Ette threw 49-3.50 (15.02m), earning sixth place. 

On the men's side of the shot put, junior Cooper Campbell finished in fourth place and recorded a personal best. Campbell's 61-11.75 (18.89m) throw improved his spot on OU's all-time record list from No. 4 to No. 3. Freshman Diego Trevino finished one-spot behind Campbell, throwing for 59-0.75 (18.18m). Senior Brad Daboub threw for 55-0.75 (16.78m), finishing in the top-10. Freshman Bryant Parlin threw for 51-3.00 (15.62m).

Sophomore Bayley Campbell and junior Edward Jeans both record personal bests in the men's weight throw. Campbell's 62-0.25 (18.90m) throw was good for seventh place. Jeans finished in ninth place with a throw of 59-4.75 (18.10m). On the women's side, junior Lauren Jones recorded a throw of 59-3.50 (18.07m), notching a fifth-place finish. Freshman Geraldine Udo threw for 50-10.25 (15.50m).

On the track, freshman Tyler Tickner and redshirt freshman Jordan Gledhill completed the men's 3,000-meter run in eighth and 10th place, respectively. Tickner crossed the line at 8:52.31, while Gledhill finished in 9:06.20. On the women's side of the event, freshmen Elise Welch and Madeline Medina placed in the top-10. Welch recorded a time of 10:24.77 for sixth place, while Medina finished in 10:45.10 which was good for ninth place. 

Freshman Carson Hockersmith finished the women's mile in 5:15.07. The freshman's time was good for a fifth-place finish in her mile debut. Boisvert crossed the line in 5:17.99, finishing in seventh place. On the men's side of the event, redshirt freshman Joshua Dick finished the event in 4:23.88, earning eighth place. Badcock finished one-spot behind his teammate, crossing the line at 4:25.35.

In the men's 800-meter run, Colley finished the event in 1:51.02, earning second place. Redshirt junior Tucker Desko joined Colley in the top-five, coming in fourth with a time of 1:53.62. Junior Derek King finished the race in 2:02.65. In the women's 800-meter race, sophomore Jordyn Kaplan and redshirt sophomore Allison Hepp finished in eight and ninth places, respectively. Kaplan crossed the line in 2:23.78, while Hepp clocked in at 2:24.70.

Redshirt sophomore Johnelle Joe earned third place in the men's 600 meters. In the sophomore's 600-meter debut, he crossed the line at 1:19.98. Sophomore Zac Tucker finished in 1:25.80 with a sixth-place finish. On the women's side of the event, freshman Levi Gladd recorded a 1:41.61 finish, securing fifth place. Fellow freshman Melissa Matthews completed the race in 1:48.16, earning ninth place. 

Austin completed the women's 60-meter hurdles in 8.32, finishing in second. The junior came in first place in the preliminary round, clocking in at 8.39. Senior Mahendra McWhite completed the event in fifth place with a time of 8.63. In the men's 60-meter hurdles, Levingston finished the event in 8.09, earning third place. In the prelims, the redshirt sophomore crossed the line in 7.91. Senior Bryce Douglas finished one-spot behind Levingston, recording a time of 8.15.

In the men's pole vault, senior Lucas Kelley cleared 15-11.75 (4.87m), recording a sixth-place finish. Darrough finished in the top-10, clearing 15-0 (4.57m).

Van Buren finished the women's 60-meter dash in third place with a time of 7.62. The senior's prelims time was 7.71. Dai'lyn Merriweather finished one-spot behind Van Buren, completing the event in 7.63. Blackmon continued the trend and finished one-spot behind Merriweather, clocking in at 7.66. Muhammad and Washington claimed the next-two spots, finishing in sixth and seventh respectively. Muhammad clocked in at 7.784, while Washington finished in 7.76.

Oklahoma women's 4x400-meter relay team crossed the line in 4:05.73, earning sixth place. On the men's side, Oklahoma team A earned third place with a 3:15.23 time.
