Sooners in Third Heading into Final Round

NORMAN – Oklahoma women's golf team sits in third place after 36 holes at the Westbrook Invitational in Peoria, Ariz. The tournament, held at the par-72, 6,432-yard Vista Course at Westbrook Village Club, concludes with the final round on Monday.
OU shot a team score of 283 (-5) in the first round to take the lead after 18 holes and followed up with an even 288 in the afternoon round. Oklahoma shot a combined score of 571 (-5) to finish one shot behind second-place Mississippi State. Nebraska leads the field at 13-under (563).
The Sooners' opening day was highlighted by a hole-in-one by freshman Mikhaela Fortuna on the 156-yard hole No. 4 during the first round.
"We played pretty solid this morning," said OU head coach Veronique Drouin-Luttrell. "We saw a lot of great stuff but struggled to get things going this afternoon. We have one more round and need to focus our energy on the positives."
Kaitlin Milligan fired a 69 (-3) in her opening round and recorded four birdies. After firing an even-par 72 in the afternoon she ended the day tied for 11th through 36-holes (141, -3).
Fourtuna's hole-in-one helped her finish the first round with a 71 (-1). She posted an even 72 in her second round and is tied with teammate Hannah Lee for 17th. Lee logged a round of even (72) followed by a one-under 71 to close the day.
Senior Julienne Soo started strong with a one-under, 71 in the morning and a 74 in the afternoon. The senior is tied for 27th. Freshman Libby Winans registered a 73 (+1) in both rounds to finish the day tied for 39th with a 146 (+2).
