OU Set To Host John Jacobs Invitational

NORMAN — The University of Oklahoma track and field team will host its only home track meet of the outdoor season this Friday and Saturday at the John Jacobs Track and Field Complex in Norman.

The 49th annual John Jacobs Invitational is scheduled to begin Friday at 5 p.m. CT following the conclusion of the John Jacobs High School Invitational, slated to run from 10 a.m. to 3:45 p.m.

Friday's collegiate portion will begin with the women's hammer throw, scheduled to start at 5 p.m. with events to follow until 8:05 p.m. Saturday's events begin at 10 a.m. CT with the women's javelin and will conclude with the men's 4x400-meter relay at 3:35 p.m.

The Sooners will honor this year's 19 track and field seniors at 1:50 p.m.

OU returns to action after an off-weekend following three consecutive weeks of meets to begin the outdoor season. The Sooners last competed at the Crimson Tide Invitational in Tuscaloosa, Ala. which saw them win five event titles, including a program-record time in the women's steeplechase by Sarah Scott. Three of the five victories for the Sooners came courtesy of the women's throws group.

The Oklahoma women's track and field team is currently ranked 17th in this week's national rankings, according to the United States Track and Field/Cross Country Coaches Association.

Live results from the John Jacobs Invitational will be available through Primetime Timing. SoonerSports.tv will have a live stream of the meet for free, weather permitting. Admission to the John Jacobs Invitational is free of charge.
