OU T&F Heads West For Aztec Invitational

NORMAN — The Oklahoma track and field team returns to outdoor competition this weekend at the Aztec Invitational, held Thursday-Saturday at the Aztrack Sports Deck in San Diego, Calif. on the campus of San Diego State University.

The 40th annual Aztec Invitational will feature over 30 colleges, a dozen local high schools, and over 1,500 student-athletes. The meet kicks off Thursday with the men's decathlon and women's pentathlon. The Sooners will not begin competition until Friday morning with three OU student-athletes participating in the women's hammer throw before the track events start in the afternoon.

The remainder of the meet's events will begin at 11:00 a.m. CT on Saturday, with the women's 4x100-meter relay being the first event with Sooners competing. The meet will conclude with the men's 4x4 relay Saturday evening at 6:50 p.m. CT.

OU is back in action after opening the outdoor season with an impressive showing at the TCU Invitational last weekend. The Sooners recorded five event victories, including a sweep in the men's and women's high jump and 4x1 relays. The women's team begins the outdoor season ranked 17th, according to the United States Track and Field/Cross Country Coaches Association's preseason rankings released on March 20.

UP NEXT
The Sooners travel to Austin, Texas, to compete at the Texas Relays beginning Mar. 28 at the Mike A. Myers Stadium on the campus of the University of Texas.
