NORMAN – No. 16 Oklahoma women's golf remains in third place at the Clover Cup after firing a second-round score of 288 (E) on Saturday at the par-72, 6,184-yard Longbow Golf Club. The Sooners shot the lowest score of any team in Saturday's round and moved one stroke closer to the top position, holding a two-round score of 579 (+3).

Ohio State and Arizona State are tied for the lead with a 36-hole total of 575 (-1) - four strokes ahead of Oklahoma.

The Sooners had a slow start Saturday, with four of the five golfers shooting above par on the front nine. Oklahoma fought back after making the turn, totaling 11 birdies on the back nine - nine of which came on the final four holes.

"We had a rough start to our round but kept fighting all day," said OU head coach Veronique Drouin-Luttrell. "I'm really proud of the team for their never-give-up attitude and how well they played on the back nine. Their fight through adversity is a sign of a great team."

Junior Julienne Soo and senior Hannah Wood led the Sooners with rounds of 71 (-1). Both golfers are in the top 10 of the individual standings with Soo sitting in third place (143, -1) and Wood holding seventh place (144, E). Ohio State's Jaclyn Lee leads the 87 competitors with a 141 (-3).

After shooting above par on four of the first eight holes, senior Rylee Pedigo charged back with five birdies in the remainder of her round. The senior shot an even-par 72 to climb up the leaderboard into a tie for 16th place (147, +3).

Joining Pedigo in the tie for 16th is fellow senior Valerie Tanguay, who carded a 74 (+2) on Saturday.

Freshman Kaitlin Milligan is tied for 30th with a two-day score of 150 (+6) and senior Ana Ruiz (competing as an individual) is in 24th at 149 (+5).

The Sooners close the tournament on Sunday with a 10 a.m. shotgun start. Oklahoma's golfers will be in the top group with co-leaders Arizona State and Ohio State. Live scoring will be available on BirdieFire.com.
