NORMAN - Six women and two men earned All-Academic honors from the track and field coaches association, as announced today by the United States Track & Field/Cross Country Coaches Association.
Additionally, the women earned team honors for the 2016-17 academic year with a cumulative GPA of 3.262. For the team award, the GPA of every student-athlete on the NCAA team roster is combined to determine the team GPA.
Sooner women who received the individual honor included RS freshman Gabby Kearney, freshman Amanda Van Buren, senior Olivia Haggerty, senior Baileh Simms, sophomore Kenzie Shell and RS junior Ashley Bryant. They were among 752 women to earn the scholar athlete award.
Earning the award from the men's team were RS senior Everette Favor and graduate transfer Grayson Haws. They were part of the 516-member men's All-Academic team.
To qualify for USTFCCCA All-Academic honors, the student-athlete must have compiled a cumulative GPA of 3.25 and have met at least one of the following athletic standards:
For the indoor season, a student-athlete must have finished the regular season ranked in the national top 96 in an individual event or ranked in the national top 48 (collective listing) in a relay event on the official NCAA POP list.
For the outdoor season, a student-athlete must have participated in any round of the NCAA Division I Championships (including preliminary rounds).
