NORMAN -- In a rematch of last season's Women's College World Series Championship, the University of Oklahoma softball team, seeded 10th, will open play in the Super Regional round of the 2017 NCAA Division I Softball Championship Friday night at No. 7 Auburn, the NCAA announced Monday.

The Sooners  (54-9) and Tigers (49-10) open their best-of-three series at Jane B. Moore Field Friday at 3 p.m. CT on ESPN2. The teams will play game two Saturday at noon on ESPN, and if a third game is necessary, it will be played Sunday at noon on ESPN, as well.

The winner of the Super Regional will advance to the 2017 Women's College World Series.

According to Auburn's website, all advanced tickets are sold out. Limited numbers of standing room tickets may become available for purchase based on stadium capacity. If any tickets become available they will be sold in person at the stadium on a first come, first served basis. There is no guarantee additional tickets will become available for purchase.

This will be Oklahoma's 11th appearance in the Super Regionals since the format was introduced in 2005, which is the third most, posting a 13-11 record. The Sooners have reached the Super Regional round in each of the last eight years, tying Oregon for the second-longest streak behind only Alabama (13).

Oklahoma is 4-2 all-time against the Tigers, though Friday's contest will mark the first one ever played between the two schools in Auburn. Last season, OU took two of three games from the Tigers to win the third national title in program history. The teams have met once already this season, facing each other in the season opener, which Auburn won 3-2 in Puerto Vallarta, Mexico.
