NORMAN – Oklahoma women's golfer Julienne Soo was named to the 10-member 2017 All-Big 12 Team, the conference announced Friday.
Soo, a sophomore, owns a team-leading 71.77 (-0.13) season-stroke average and is on pace to break the program record season-scoring average of 72.26 (+0.44) set in 2012-13 by Chirapat Jao-Javanil. The South Yarra, Australia, native has recorded seven top-16 finishes this season, including the first medalist honors of her career after firing a program-best 203 (-13) at the Clover Cup.
“I'm really proud of Jules,” OU Head Coach Veronique Drouin-Luttrell said. “She's worked really hard to be where she is this year and she deserves this accolade. Her desire to be the best is second to none.”
Baylor's Amy Lee was named the Big 12 Player of the Year while Greta Voelker of Texas earned Freshman of the Year honors. Texas head coach Ryan Murphy was awarded the conference Coach of the Year. The all-conference team was selected by using the average of Golfstat and Golfweek national rankings to determine the top 10 players.
Soo and the Sooners begin postseason on May 8-10 in Lubbock, Texas, for the NCAA Lubbock Regional at the Rawls Course.
