Sooners Finish Big 12 Championship

NORMAN – The No. 20 University of Oklahoma women's golf team finished Sunday's third and final round of the Big 12 Championship in ninth place. The three-day, 54-hole tournament took place at the par-72, 6,263-yard Dominion Country Club in San Antonio, Texas.
The Sooners carded a 301 (+13) on Sunday for a three-round 908 (+44). No. 23 Texas finished at the top of the leaderboard with an 885 (+21), while Iowa State finished in second place at 892 (+28) and Texas Tech in third place at 394 (+30).
Valerie Tanguay was OU's top finisher, sharing ninth place out of 45 competitors with a 222 (+6). The junior carded a 74 (+2) in all three rounds and played a strong front nine on Sunday, sinking two birdies on the day. It marked the first top-10 showing of her career.
Julienne Soo finished the tournament with a share of 22nd place at 227 (+11). The junior improved on her Saturday score by eight strokes. Soo fired an even-par 72 in the third round after recording three birdies.
Junior Rylee Pedio shot a 78 (+6) in the third round to finish in a share of 24th place at 228 (+12). Pedigo ended the day by registering a birdie on the final hole.
Hannah Wood finished the tournament tied for 38th place at 235 (+19). The junior posted a 77 (+5) on Sunday. Classmate Ana Ruiz was close behind, finishing in 40th (237; +21) after recording an 81 (+9) in the final round.
The Sooners will learn their postseason fate on Thursday, April 27. The NCAA Division 1 Women's Golf Championships selections will be announced live on the Golf Channel at 10 a.m. CT.
