Sooners in Third After First Round of The Clover

NORMAN – The No. 24 Oklahoma women's golf team holds third place at the end of the first round of The Clover Cup. The three-day, 54-hole tournament is taking place at the par-72, 6,184-yard Longbow Golf Club in Mesa, Ariz.
The Sooners shot a 282 (-6) on Tuesday against a 15-team field carding 16 birdies together as a team. No. 3-ranked Florida State (279; -9) tops the leaderboard followed by No. 4 Arizona State currently sitting in second place at 281 (-7). Oklahoma takes third place followed by Houston (287; -1) in fourth place and TCU and Notre Dame tied for fifth place at 292 (+4).
Sophomore Julienne Soo sits atop the leaderboard tied for first place out of 84 competitors firing a score of 66 (-6). The sophomore carded two birdies and added two eagles on the first and 18th holes.
Junior Ana Ruiz ended the first round of play shooting a 70 (-2) and is tied for ninth place. Ruiz carded six birdies on the day.
Valerie Tanguay and Rylee Pedigo both shot a 73 (+1) in the opening round and share 21st place. Tanguay recorded two birdies and Pedigo collected four birdies on Friday.
Junior Hannah Wood shot a 77 (+5) in the opening round after sinking two birdies. Wood is tied for 48th place.
