Sooners in Eighth After Two Rounds

NORMAN – The No. 22 Oklahoma women's golf team finished Monday's first and second rounds of The Dickson in eighth place at 581 (+5). The 16-team tournament is being played at the par-72, 6,296- yard The Woodlands Country Club in The Woodlands, Texas.
The Sooners opened the day with a 287 (-1) in the tournament's first round before recording a 293 (+4) in the second round on Monday. No.2 Florida State is in first place at 554 (-22), followed by SMU (569;-7) in second place and No.15 Kent State (575; -1) in third.
Valerie Tanguay paced the Sooners on the day, firing a two-round 142 (-2). The junior opened the day with a 70 (-2) pocketing three birdies. Tanguay started out strong in the second round playing bogey-free until the last two holes. She carded a 72 (E) and is tied for 12th place.
Julienne Soo carded a 71 (-1) in the opening round. The sophomore followed with a 75 (+3) in the day's second round to share 28rd place at 146 (+2).
Ana Ruiz registered a 147 (+3) on the day to share 36th place. The junior completed the first round sinking four birdies with a score of 74 (+2). She followed with a 73 (+1) in the evening's round.
Junior Rylee Pedigo shares 43rd place at 148 (+4) after logging a 74 (+2) in the first and second rounds. Classmate Hannah Wood is tied for 47th place after shooting a 36-hole 149 (+5). Wood recorded a 72 (E) and a 77 (+5) in the first and second rounds, respectively.
“We played solid most of the day but had a tough finish,” said head coach Veronique Drouin-Luttrell. “The girls showed us a lot of positive things today and we are excited to get back out there tomorrow.”
