Sooners in Top Five Entering Final Round

NORMAN – The No. 21 Oklahoma women's golf team finished round two of the Florida State Match-Up in fifth place. The 12-team tournament is being played at the par-72, 6,212-yard Don Veller Seminole Golf Club in Tallahassee, Fla.

Oklahoma, who sits at 584 (+8) through two rounds, shot a 289 (+1) on the day after a slow start on the first three holes. No.4 Florida State (558;-18) is in first place after firing a 275 (-12), followed by No.13 South Carolina (561;-15) in second place and No.23 Texas A&M (574;-2) in third. 

Ana Ruiz has paced the Sooners through the opening two rounds, firing a 143 (-1). Ruiz is tied for 11th place out of 66 competitors after finishing round two with a 73 (+1), sinking six birdies on the day.

Sophomore Julienne Soo shot a 71 (-1) and is tied for 16th place (144; E) after recording four birdies.

Junior Rylee Pedigo ended the day breaking even at 72 and classmate Hannah Wood recorded a 74 (+2) and is tied for 35th with teammate Pedigo. Both Pedigo and Wood hold a two-round 149 (+5).

Junior Valerie Tanguay had a rough first hole but closed out round two with four birdies. Tanguay shot a 73 (+1) and shares of 44th place at 152 (+8).

"We played a lot better today," said head coach Veronique Drouin-Luttrell. "We were able to make some good birdies and everyone fed off each other. Tomorrow we have a great opportunity to play well again and build some momentum for the rest of the spring."
