Sooners at Home for Schooner Fall Classic

NORMAN – The Sooners are set to compete in their only home tournament of the season this Saturday-Monday (Sept. 24-26) at the fourth annual Schooner Fall Classic. The 12-team event is being played at the par-71, 5,939-yard Belmar Golf Club.
The Schooner Fall Classic is a unique experience for collegiate golfers as they have the opportunity to interact with the children that are staying at OK Kids Korral during the college tournament. The Toby Keith Foundation works to encourage the health and happiness of pediatric cancer patients and their families through OK Kids Korral, which is a cost-free, comfortable home for pediatric patients receiving treatment in Oklahoma City. During the tournament, participating golfers and coaches spend an evening at Kids Korral with the children the organization serves. All proceeds from the Schooner Fall Classic benefit The Toby Keith Foundation as it enters its third year of helping children battling cancer.
The Sooners are coming off a sixth-place finish at the 16-team Branch Law Firm/Dick McGuire Invitational, which featured nine-teams in the Golfweek preseason poll. OU recorded a three-round 862 (-2) in the event, the seventh-lowest 54-hole score in program history and the best since the 2014 squad registered an 861 at the 2014 Big 12 Championship.
Hannah Wood led the way for the Sooners, firing a career-best-tying 209 (-7) for an eighth-place finish. Wood carded a 67 (-5) in the final round and finished the event with three-par-or-better rounds.

FORMAT
Due to the weather forecast, teams will begin at 9 a.m. Saturday in a shotgun start and play 36 holes. The final round of the tournament will be played Sunday if weather allows. If the course in unplayable on Sunday, the third round will stay scheduled for Monday.
