NORMAN – The University of Oklahoma women's golf team is set to begin the 2016-17 season in Albuquerque, N.M., at the Branch Law Firm Dick McGuire Invitational. The 16-team event, which features nine teams in the Golfweek preseason poll, will be held Sept. 12-13 at the par-72, 6,317-yard University Course.

The Sooners return their entire lineup from the 2016-17 season with the addition of freshman Sydney Youngblood. Junior Hannah Wood paced the squad in 2015-16, producing a 72.79 season-stroke average en route to an individual NCAA Regional appearance. The OU roster also includes seniors Haley Hill and Maggie Neece, juniors Rylee Pedigo, Ana Ruiz and Valerie Tanguay, and sophomores Karen Arimoto and Julienne Soo.

Eighth-year OU head coach Veronique Drouin-Luttrell said she is excited to see her team's progression with another year of experience.

“We are very excited to get started this season,” Drouin-Luttrell said. “We've all worked hard this offseason and have made some huge strides toward reaching our goals.”
