ESPN networks to cover NCAA start to finish

EUGENE, Ore. – Track and field fans who are interested in following the NCAA Outdoor Championships will have several opportunities to do so as the networks of ESPN have announced the broadcast schedule for the meet.

Just a year ago, the championships, in the first year of a new format, the men's and women's championships were most-watched college outdoor T&F championships sessions ever on ESPN networks. The format change had men's events scheduled for Wednesday and Friday with the women's events on Thursday and Saturday. A year ago, Oklahoma City was the highest rated market, followed by Portland, New Orleans, Kansas City and Atlanta.

Action began today and will continue through Saturday. The combined events and field events will be broadcast online via ESPN3 starting Wednesday and will continue through the men's finals on Friday and the women's finals on Saturday.

The Sooners' first competitors, Dylan Blankenbaker and Tyler Renton, open competition on Wednesday. Blankenbaker competes in the 3,000-meter steeplechase at 5:02 p.m., then Renton begins competition in the javelin 5:45 p.m.

The action got underway on ESPN3 at 3:30 p.m. Wednesday with the start of the men's decathlon. ESPN3 will be the hub of all combined events and field events throughout the championships and will broadcast all day. All times are listed in Eastern time.

At 7:30 p.m., ESPNU will begin its coverage until ESPN2 takes over at 8:30 p.m. until the conclusion of Day 1.

The online broadcast of Thursday's competitions starts at 12:30 p.m. ET with the start of the second day of the men's decathlon. Once again, ESPN3 will provide complete coverage of the decathlon as well as the field events. ESPNU will show the meet from 7:30-8 p.m. until the action switches over to ESPN from 8-10:30 p.m.

trophy On Friday, the heptathlon kicks things off at 3:30 p.m. on ESPN3 and that channel will be live until 11 p.m. ESPN is going to air the men's finals beginning at 8 p.m. until the 4×400 wraps things up three hours later.

ESPN3 goes live on Saturday at 2:30 p.m. and will continue until the conclusion of the meet.

Women's finals will be aired on ESPN starting at 6:30 p.m. until the end of the 4×400.
