Wood Receives Individual Postseason Bid

April 25, 2016 | Women's Golf

NORMAN – University of Oklahoma women's golfer Hannah Wood was selected Monday to participate in the 2016 NCAA Bryan Regional in Bryan, Texas. The 54-hole tournament will be held May 5-7 at the par-72, 6,242-yard Texas Traditions Golf Club.

Wood's postseason bid comes a day after the sophomore tied for 12th place at the Big 12 Championship. The Centennial, Colo., native fired a 217 (+1) en route to her eighth top-20 finish in nine tournaments this season.

“I'm really proud of Hannah this season,” OU head coach Veronique Drouin-Luttrell said. “She's worked hard and it has been paying off for her. She played solid all year and deserved to be selected to play in the regional tournament.”

Wood boasts a 72.92 season stroke average and is currently ranked 77th by Golfweek. The sophomore has played 15 of 26 rounds this season at par or better and has tallied three top 10 and two top five finishes.

The NCAA Bryan Regional is one of four regional sites with each location hosting 18 teams and six individuals. Six teams and three individuals not on an advancing team per regional will move on to the NCAA Championships, slated for May 20-25 at the Eugene Country Club in Eugene, Ore.
