Sooners Complete Opening Round of Big 12s

NORMAN – The University of Oklahoma women's golf team finished the opening round of the 2016 Big 12 Championships in ninth place. The tournament is being played at the par-72, 6,263-yard Dominion Country Club in San Antonio, Texas.
The Sooners logged a 302 (+14) in the round. No. 17-ranked Iowa State (287;-1) tops the leaderboard, and No. 9 Oklahoma State shares second with Texas at even par. TCU is in fourth place at 294 (+6), and Kansas State (+7) sits in fifth place.
Ana Ruiz led the way for the Sooners, firing a 73 (+1) in Friday's round. The sophomore sat at even par before recording her only bogey of the day on the final hole. Ruiz shares 13th place out of 45 competitors.
Sophomore Rylee Pedigo carded a 75 (+3) in the opening round and is tied for 27th place.
Freshman Julienne Soo and sophomores Valerie Tanguay and Hannah Wood each shot a 77 (+5) in the first round and share 37th place.
