Sooners Sweep Hammer
March 26, 2016 | Track and Field
ARLINGTON, Texas - They had to wait for hours to start the collegiate competition at the Bobby Lane Invitational. For a pair of Sooners, it was worth the wait.
Sophomore Ashley Bryant, in just her second outdoor meet, won the women's hammer with a 178-10. She recorded the winning throw on her fifth attempt.
Charles Nguyen won the men's hammer for the Sooners on his third attempt in the prelims with a 200-10. He actually had the best throw on the competition after his second attempt. He put the victory away with his third attempt, winning by nearly 20 feet over the runner-up Chase Graham.
His winning throw was nearly 15 feet better than his season opener a week ago.
Field events begin at 9 a.m. Saturday while the first running event is scheduled for 11 a.m.
Live results wlll be available at Delta Timing with a complete recap to follow the conclusion of the meet on SoonerSports.com.
