OU Finishes Season-Best Third at Clover Cup

NORMAN – The University of Oklahoma women's golf team fired a season-best 873 (+9) to finish in third place at the fifth annual Clover Cup. The 17-team event was played at the par-72, 6,184-yard Longbow Golf Course in Mesa, Ariz.
OU logged a third-round 292 (+4). SMU won the team title with an 858 (-6) and TCU took second place at 866 (+2).
Rylee Pedigo led the Sooners, firing a career-best 211 (-5) for a runner-up finish out of 99 competitors. All three of Pedigo's rounds in the event were under par, including two 70 (-2) rounds in the final two days. The sophomore finished Sunday's front nine at even par and played a bogey-free back nine before pocketing two birdies on her final two holes.
"Rylee played really well this week," OU head coach Veronique Drouin-Luttrell said. "I'm really proud of her and what she's been able to do this week."
Classmate Hannah Wood also captured a top-10 finish, logging a 214 (-2) to take seventh place. Wood registered a 72 (E) in the final round.
Sophomore Ana Ruiz shared 20th place in the tournament after carding a third-round 76 (+4) for a 54-hole 223 (+7).
OU's Valerie Tanguay posted a 226 (+10) in the event to share 32nd. The sophomore recorded a tournament-best 74 (+2) on Sunday. Freshman Karen Arimoto shot an 84 (+12) in the third round to finish in 85th place with a 244 (+28).
Freshman Julienne Soo played as an individual in the event and is unattached from team scoring. Soo registered a share of 55th place at 233 (+17) and logged a 78 (+6) on Sunday.
"I'm really proud of this team," Drouin-Luttrell said. "We've put in a lot of time and effort the last few months and it's paying off. We need to continue working hard and keep building off our momentum for next weekend."
The Sooners return to the course on March 20-22 in Baton Rouge, La., for the LSU Tiger Golf Classic.
