ALL IN: 2015-16 OU Women's Golf Blog
February 26, 2016 | Women's Golf
This spring season, the Oklahoma women's golf team will blog after each tournament about every part of each event from how they performed on the course to what fun experiences they had as a team that week.
For the first entry, we asked the five girls in the lineup for the season opener about what they worked on during the offseason and what Sooner fans can expect to see from the team in the spring season.
Karen Arimoto
My favorite part about being on this team is that I have bonded and built a close relationship on and off the course with all of my teammates. Seeing everyone motivating each other by showing competitiveness and hard work on the golf course is just amazing. I'm proud to be on this team. Having fun with my team has made me more happy than I have ever been. Our team is very strong and we bond well.
Rylee Pedigo
Over the off season my time management has improved immensely, and I have been working on my wedges. My wedges were at one point the weakest part of my game and now they are getting stronger everyday!
Ana Ruiz
One of my teammates that I think could have a breakout spring season is Karen Arimoto. Her hard work during the offseason has already been reflected in her game during practice and qualifying rounds. Also, her positive and energetic attitude on the course will help her have a great season.
Valerie Tanguay
My expectation for this season is to have fun on the golf course and appreciate every opportunity that golf has given me. I want to be competitive and have a positive attitude. My expectation for our team is that everyone is ready to give more than 100 percent and feel like they give everything they have on the golf course. I expect that my teammates and I will play and practice with a positive attitude, think like winners and have fun doing what we do.
Hannah Wood
I'd say our team's confidence comes from our knowledge of knowing what we are capable of. All of us have very different games and we see that as an advantage. There's more than one way to get to the top, and as a team, we know that better than anybody else. The last thing that's on our mind is who we are playing, because at the end of the day that doesn't matter, only the shot in front of us does because that's the only thing we can control. We are just as skilled as every other team out there, but the only difference is our mentality, which hopefully we can overcome and learn from.
The Sooners begin their spring slate this Monday-Wednesday (Feb. 29-March 2) in Miami, Fla., at the Hurricane Invitational. Check back to SoonerSports.com after each spring tournament for more blog entries from the OU women's golf team or follow them on Twitter at @OU_WGolf.
