Sunday's Round Canceled Due to Lightning
September 20, 2015 | Women's Golf
NORMAN – Sunday's round of the third annual Schooner Fall Classic has been canceled due to inclement weather. The tournament's format, which was originally 54-holes over three days, will change to 36 holes with the second and final round beginning Monday at 8:30 a.m. CT and continuing in 10-minute increments. The event is being played at the par-71, 5,901-yard Belmar Golf Club in Norman.
Tee times were originally set to begin at 9 a.m. on Sunday but were pushed back three and a half hours due to rain and lightning in the area. The first groups hit tee shots off holes 1 and 10 at 12:30 p.m. but were called back in to the clubhouse due to lightning before they could finish their first hole. The tournament committee decided the group's shots do not count and will start the second round over tomorrow.
The Sooners are currently tied for sixth place in the 12-team field with a 291 (+7). No. 15-ranked Oklahoma State leads the tournament at 276 (-8). OU sophomore Rylee Pedigo paced the Sooners in the opening round, firing a 67 (-4). She is currently tied for fourth place individually.
OU will tee off for Monday's final round of the Schooner Fall Classic at 8:30 a.m. CT. Live stats are available at BirdieFire.com.
