Sooners Host Bedlam Cup

April 03, 2015 | Women's Golf

NORMAN The University of Oklahoma women's golf team will host No. 11 Oklahoma State in a dual match this Saturday, April 4. The Bedlam Cup match-play event will be held at the Jimmie Austin OU Golf Club in Norman.

The Sooners are coming off an 11th-place finish at the LSU Tiger Golf Classic in Baton Rouge, La. OU registered a three-round 929 (+65) in the event, and freshman Hannah Wood led the squad with a share of 19th place at 226 (+10).

Sixth-year OU head coach Veronique Drouin-Luttrell said she's excited to compete in the Bedlam match again.

“Matches like this are important because it's the way we're going to be playing the national championships, and it's fun to play a match head-to-head against another team,” Drouin-Luttrell explained. “There's also just the importance of Bedlam and knowing what that means as a state school. Playing against each other at home is going to be fun for us.”

Teams will compete in 36 holes of head-to-head play beginning at 8 a.m. CT on Saturday, and pairings will be reset after the first 18 holes. Live scoring can be found on the @OU_WGolf Twitter feed. Admission is free.

This will mark OU's second match-play event this season. The Sooners registered a 5-4 win over Texas A&M at the Tegavah Golf Club in Rio Verde, Ariz., on March 18. The event featured three morning alternate-shot matches and six afternoon one-on-one matches.
