NORMAN – The NCAA Division I Women's Golf Committee announced Monday the teams and individuals that will compete in the 2015 NCAA Golf Championships. The Sooners were selected as the No. 14 seed in the San Antonio, Texas, Regional, which will be held May 7-9 at the par-72, 6,428-yard Briggs Ranch Golf Club. It will mark OU's fifth consecutive NCAA Regional appearance.

The 18-team regional, hosted by the University of Texas San Antonio, is one of four 54-hole preliminary events for the NCAA Championship finals. The low six teams and low three individuals not on an advancing team from each regional will move on to the finals, which will be held May 22-27 at the Concession Golf Club in Bradenton, Fla.

Other regional sites include the Lonnie Poole Golf Course in Raleigh, N.C., the Warren Golf Course in South Bend, Ind., and the Entrada at Snow Canyon Country Club in St. George, Utah. Those events will also be played May 7-9.

The Briggs Ranch Golf Club is host to the Alamo Invitational, where the Sooners have had great success. In 2012, OU won the tournament by eight shots and registered what was then the best 54-hole score in school history (848; -16). In 2013, the Sooners shattered their previous record at the event, carding an 840 (-24) and again winning the tournament by eight shots. Then-freshman Alexandra Kaui broke the OU 18-hole record, logging a 65 (-7) in the final round of the tournament for a three-round 10-under, the best 54-hole score in relation to par in school history.

Sixth-year OU head coach Veronique Drouin-Luttrell said her youthful squad is excited to continue its season in San Antonio.

“This is a great opportunity for us to get back out on the course and play in the regional tournament,” Drouin-Luttrell said. “We are very young and have a lot of talent, so qualifying is very exciting for us as a team. I look forward to returning to a place we love playing.”

Last season, OU finished in fourth place in the NCAA West Regional at the Tumble Creek Golf Course at Suncadia Resort in Cle Elum, Wash. The performance qualified the team for the NCAA Championships at the Tulsa Country Club in Tulsa, Okla., where it finished in a program-best fourth place.
