NORMAN – A first-ever broadcast of a home track and field meet is scheduled to air on Fox Sports Oklahoma at 11 p.m. Tuesday.
Through the efforts of the staff of SoonerVision and Sooner Sports TV, the John Jacobs Invitational, held April 18 at John Jacobs Field, was originally webcast live during the event. The staff has produced a one-hour package of highlights from the meet.
The show, hosted by Toby Rowland, will also include head coach Jim VanHootegem providing the color commentary.
The men's steeplechase, the women's 400-meter dash and 1,500-meter run, and the men's and women's 400-meter relay, 100-meter dash, 200-meter dash, 800-meter run and 1,600-meter relay will be the track events featured. From the field events, the show will include men's triple jump and shot put, women's discus and the men's and women's javelin and hammer.
Several of those events produced record-breaking performances at the 2015 meet, including two races whose records had been on the books for more than 25 years.
The first-ever broadcast of a track and field meet by SoonerVision and Sooner Sports TV will be re-broadcast on Fox Sports Oklahoma Wednesday at 3 p.m. and Thursday at 9 p.m. It also will be rebroadcast on Fox Sports Southwest, Fox College Sports Atlantic, Fox College Sports Central and Fox College Sports Pacific.
